    　　影片依然是西部片的套路，韋恩再次扮演典型的西部英雄，然而此次的角色比以往的都更成熟，因而使他在拍了一系列西部片以后，終于在62歲高齡贏得了奧斯卡最佳男主角的殊榮。1975年推出續集《莽龍怒》（Rooster Cogburn，又譯《獨眼龍江湖仗義》），由潑辣強悍的老牌女星凱瑟琳·赫本配戲，不料兩個加起來超過一百歲的老人竟然擦出火花，使這部斗氣冤家式的喜劇別具妙趣。韋恩在片中繼續飾演獨眼龍警長，受雇追蹤一群無法無天的歹徒。赫本則是為父報仇的老處女，她也在追尋同一幫壞蛋。兩人湊在一起之后用什么方式來對抗強敵人呢？這正是本片的主要趣味所在。雖然劇情有點單薄。原片于1978年重拍。
